Swimming Pool Repurposing
Demolition and Repurposing
The project involved a complete transformation of the existing pool facility. Derelict spaces within the pool area were targeted for repurposing to create new functional areas.
Auditorium and Flexible Space Creation
The deeper section of the pool was converted into an auditorium, providing a dedicated performance or presentation space. The shallower end was adapted to offer flexible teaching and seating arrangements to accommodate various activities.
Structural and Remedial Work
Significant structural alterations were undertaken to facilitate the new layouts. This phase also included the essential tasks of asbestos removal and encapsulation to ensure a safe environment.
Enhanced Natural Light and Ventilation
New, full-height windows were installed to maximize natural light within the spaces. These windows were equipped with automatic openers to provide controlled ventilation.
Climate Control Systems
The project included the design and installation of Air Handling Units (AHUs) and a comprehensive cooling system. These additions ensure comfortable and regulated temperatures within the repurposed building.
Accessibility and Acoustic Improvements
To improve accessibility, two new accessible lifts were installed within the building. Acoustic coatings were applied to reduce decibel levels, creating a more suitable sound environment within the spaces.
