GENERAL STATEMENT OF HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY
HEALTH & SAFETY AT WORK ACT 1974

The company will comply with its legal duties in order to provide a safe and healthy working environment for its employees and other affected by the company’s activities.  It will take positive action to ensure that other contractors’ employees, occupiers of premises and members of the public do not have their health and safety adversely affected by the work operations of the company.  The only acceptable standard of health and safety and for welfare facilities will be full and proper compliance with the requirements of legislation.  Where it is possible and practical to do so, the company will exceed the minimum requirements of the legislation.

We will seek to ensure that companies with whom we contract or subcontract have a similar high standard.

The company has nominated….Charles Meadows….. as having overall responsibility for health and safety.  To provide assistance in health and safety issues, the services of an external consultant may be used.

In particular our statement of general policy is:

  • To consult, on health and safety matters, with our employees and others who we may control to ensure the policy and arrangements for health and safety are kept up to date.
  • To fully and effectively control the health and safety risks arising from our work activities in co-operation with other contractors, clients, designers and where necessary the planning co-ordinator.
  • To provide and ensure that all plant and equipment owned, used or hired by the company is safe to use and properly maintained, inspected and tested.
  • To ensure that all equipment, materials and substances used by the company are used, handled and stored safely.
  • To ensure that all employees are provided with adequate supervisory training, information and instructions to competently carry out their works and activities.
  • To ensure that accident and ill health prevention is provided the highest priority, commensurate with business objectives, within all company operations.
  • To ensure that all working places are maintained in a safe and healthy condition.
  • To provide adequate resources, including sufficient finance and access to competent health and safety advice, to achieve the aims of this policy.
  • To review and revise the policy and policy statement annually, or as and when new legislations come into force and where necessary due to changes in the company’s activities.
